Turn in Keys and Other Items
Please return your keys and any items such as laundry cards, parking permits, garage door openers, and carpet cleaning receipts to your leasing office at move-out. Please return all keys and fobs issued to your household. In roommate situations, keys should only be returned by the final person moving out. Please note that lease end times are typically early in the day so we can begin preparing the unit for the next resident.
Final Packing and Cleaning
The button below links to our complete vacating procedures. Please review them carefully before move-out. A few important notes: large furniture should be moved using side or rear entrances whenever possible to avoid a fine; carpets must be professionally cleaned and a receipt provided; and bulk items like mattresses, sofas, and televisions should not be left in your building or near garbage areas. If you do not plan to keep these items, please arrange removal through a private hauler.
Close Out Utility Accounts
Please contact any utility providers with whom you have a direct account, such as internet, gas, or electricity, and let them know you are moving. If service is not disconnected properly, it may delay the next resident from establishing service. For utilities like gas and electricity, make sure the account remains active through your lease end date.
Provide Forwarding Address
Within 30 days of your lease ending, we will mail you a final itemized statement (Security Deposit Transmittal Form) and any refund due. Please make sure we have your correct forwarding address on file. In roommate situations, refund checks are made payable jointly to all leaseholders but can only be mailed to one person. Please specify which leaseholder should receive the mailing and provide their forwarding address.
Give Notice to Vacate
If you do not intend to renew your lease agreement, you must notify us in writing. For our standard leases, notice must be submitted no later than 60 days before your lease expiration date. To provide notice, please write and sign a brief letter stating that you do not intend to renew your lease at the end of the current term. Be sure to include all resident names and the rental address. Once completed, scan the letter as a PDF or take a clear photo and upload it to the Resident Center.
