Plan Your Move
Reach out to your leasing agent or rental office to let us know when to expect you. Please plan to arrive during regular office hours. If you’ll be renting a truck or hiring movers, we recommend booking early since availability can fill up quickly. Moving tip: it’s not uncommon for your current lease to end before your new lease begins. Temporary self-storage can be a simple way to keep your belongings secure while waiting for move-in day.
Confirm Renter’s Insurance
Leaseholders are required to maintain a renter’s insurance policy for the length of the lease. The policy must meet certain beneficiary and coverage criteria. You will upload your declarations page for a compliance review. If the policy is compliant, you are all set. If not, you may revise and resubmit. If you don’t have a policy or it does not comply, you will be auto-enrolled in our umbrella policy for a monthly charge.
Set Up Utilities
Your lease agreement shows the required utilities for which you are responsible. You must make sure to set them up so they are on at the time your lease begins. As a best practice, you should reach out to the utility provider to do this at least two weeks before the lease start date. You can use our search tool to find out who to contact.
Pay Outstanding Balance
Your total amount due is listed at the bottom of your lease under “Amounts Due Upon Signing.” This amount includes previously unpaid move-in charges like security deposit, municipal fees, and first month’s rent. The outstanding balance must be paid in full for us to release keys. Please note this amount must be paid with certified funds like a credit card, cashier’s check, or money order. For future payments, you will have additional options including ACH and personal check.
Sign Lease Agreement
As a first step, make sure that you, any roommates, and/or cosigners review and sign your lease and any attached addenda. The documents are sent via email for electronic signature. You will not be able to get keys until we have the fully signed agreement.
