Breaker Panel Basics
• A tripped breaker can cause a partial power outage – Your apartment uses multiple electrical circuits, so a single tripped breaker may affect only certain lights, outlets, appliances, or equipment such as your air conditioner or microwave while the rest of the home continues to have power. • Check your breaker panel if power is missing in only part of your home – Look for a breaker that is in the middle position or appears different from the others, then firmly switch it fully to “Off” before returning it to “On.” • If the breaker trips again or will not reset – Stop using the affected appliances or outlets and contact your leasing office for assistance, as this may indicate an overloaded circuit or an electrical issue that requires attention.
Light Fixture Not Working
• Try replacing the bulb first – Burned-out bulbs are the most common cause of lighting issues. • Check the breaker panel if needed – A tripped breaker may affect lights and outlets in the same area. • If the fixture still does not work – Contact your leasing office for additional troubleshooting or repair.
Why Did Part of My Apartment Lose Power?
• Check your breaker panel first – A single tripped breaker can cause power loss to only part of your home. • Look for a tripped GFCI outlet – Bathrooms, kitchens, and outdoor outlets often include reset buttons that can restore power to multiple outlets. • If power is still unavailable – Contact your leasing office and let them know which rooms or outlets are affected.
